About the Mayor's Office
The Mayor's Office provides specialist administrative, project and event management support and provides advice and guidance to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor’s Office comprises five staff and is a small, focused team with connections across the borough.
What we do
- strive to ensure that the Mayor's engagements are representative of all sections of the community across the borough
- plan, organise and co-ordinate civic events on behalf of the Council, such as Remembrance Sunday and Freedom of the Borough parades
- plan and organise a mayoral programme of events
- co-ordinate the annual Mayor’s Awards nomination process and Presentation Ceremony
- discuss all invitations received to engagements with the Mayor and respond as soon as a decision has been made
- arrange for the Mayor to attend engagements, ensuring they are fully informed about all engagements and have the information required to undertake their duties
- work closely with the mayoral charity to support them with raising their profile and fundraising events
- provide advice and support to the local community on the role of the Mayor; mayoral invitation requests and any protocol queries.
Office opening hours
For any enquiries, advice or information, please contact the Mayor’s Office. The office is normally open from 9am to 5pm. There are times when staff are unable to answer the telephone because they are working at a Mayoral event or function.
During these times and outside normal working hours you can leave a telephone message.
If you leave a message, the office will aim to respond within one working day, or the next working day if left after 5pm or during the weekend.
