Our commitments to the Inquiry: tracking progress

Rebuilding trust

Commitment 9

Make regular use of restorative approaches where relationships break down

Lead

Cross-council.

Our progress

Restorative practice, which deals with conflict and harm, is being used or offered in situations where relationships breakdown. The Grenfell Partnerships Team has made use of restorative expertise in the consultation on the Future Grenfell Support programme.

Next steps

This will be incorporated in the Charter for Public Participation. We would welcome further suggestions as to how we might incorporate this commitment.

When this will happen

Our review of the charter is due to be completed by autumn 2025.

Commitment 10

Reflect together about decisions made since the Grenfell tragedy

Lead

Cross-council.

Our progress

Work is underway on the final report on the delivery, reach and impact of the Grenfell Recovery programme.

Next steps

The report will consider key learning points from the recovery programme. The Inquiry Working Group is also looking at options to capture learning from the response and recovery effort.

When this will happen

The final impact report will be presented to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee in October 2025.

Commitment 11

Share information and performance data openly and transparently

Lead

Corporate Strategy and Grenfell Partnerships.

Our progress

All performance data is published quarterly on our website and reviewed by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

We have changed our approach in light of feedback and challenge from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee. The most recent report was considered by the committee in February 2025.

Next steps

Our priority is to improve the performance information on our website to ensure it is accessible for everyone. Our Internal Audit team is looking at how we might more closely align performance, delivery and risk reporting.

When this will happen

Improvements will be complete by autumn 2025, and the information regularly reviewed thereafter. The next performance update to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be in January 2026.

Commitment 12

Ensure senior leaders maintain regular direct contact with communities

Lead

Cross-council.

Our progress

Ward-based meetings or surgeries are being arranged across the borough. These will give people the opportunity to speak with lead members and senior officers directly.

Next steps

The scope of these sessions will be agreed with ward councillors to ensure they reflect the concerns and priorities of residents.

A new tool is being introduced to track Leadership Team involvement with communities. This will ensure there is regular visibility and contact with all communities across the borough.

When this will happen

The sessions will take place between mid-July 2025 and early 2026. First session took place in Colville ward in early July.
