You can search, view and comment on applications using the Planning Applications Search on the council's website. The service is updated regularly, and key milestones and target dates are shown under "Proposal Details".
If you have submitted an application that is still within its statutory determination period, or an agreed extension of time, a progress update may not yet be available. If you need to speak to the planning officer dealing with your application, you can email them directly. Their contact details can be found in:
- your planning application acknowledgement letter
- any emails or letters about your application

New Local Plan
The Council adopted its new Local Plan 2024 on 24 July 2024. Further details of the meeting, and the decision, can be seen on the Council meetings page. The Local Plan 2024 comprises the following documents:
As required by Regulations 26 of the Town and County Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended) the Council must make available:
- NLPR adoption statement
- The Council carried out an Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA):
- IIA Adoption Statement
These documents are also available for inspection during normal office hours at Kensington Town Hall and local libraries.
Neighbourhood plans
The borough is home to two neighbourhood plans which also form part of the development plan for their areas:
New Local Plan Review examination
On 5 July 2024 the Council received the Inspector’s Report into the examination of the New Local Plan Review (NLPR) together with the "Main Modifications". Read the Inspector's report and details of the Examination.

Local Plan 2019
(superseded by Local Plan 2024 above)
On 11 September 2019, the Council adopted its Local Plan Partial Review (LPPR) Publication Policies, February 2017. This includes a new foreword written by the Leader, Cllr Elizabeth Campbell. The adopted Local Plan incorporates both the ‘main modifications’ recommended by the Inspector and the ‘minor/additional modifications’ published by the Council.

Adoption

The Council carried out the sustainability appraisal for the LPPR within a wider Integrated Impact Assessment (IIP). Three documents are of particular relevance:
- Integrated Impact Assessment (May 2017)
- Integrated Impact Assessment Addendum (July 2018)
- IIA Adoption Statement (September 2019)
These documents are also available for inspection during normal office hours at Kensington Town Hall and local libraries.
