Things that affect waiting times

This can include:

  • your priority band

  • how long you've already spent waiting

  • how many households are on the Housing Register

  • the number of properties available for letting

  • your preferences — such as where you want to live in the borough

  • essential requirements — such as accessibility needs in your home

When you'll receive an offer from us

This depends on:

  • the number of homes available

  • how flexible you are about the type and location of the home

  • your priority level

  • how long you have been on the register.

Average waiting times show some residents wait a long time before being rehoused.

You can keep your waiting time as short as possible by being open and flexible about the home you're offered.

What is a Housing Register?

The Housing Register is the list of people who qualify for social housing under our Housing Allocation Scheme.

People on the register are waiting to be offered a social housing tenancy.

There are currently around 3,000 people in Kensington and Chelsea on the register.

Only households with a high level of identified housing need can join the register.

There is limited social housing in the borough, and demand for social housing is very high.

This means we cannot offer a home to everyone who applies.
